Welcome to In the Word Ministries, founded by Pastor Larry Cooke.

In the Word Ministries had its beginning in 1986 ministering at Harris County Jail, Salvation Army's Harbor Light Men's Development Center and the Star of Hope Men's Facility. God gave Larry a vision and compassion for reaching out to those behind bars and trapped in their addictions.

We believe that God’s heart is to set the captives free. Over the years we have seen tens of thousands of people make the decision to follow Christ as Lord and Savior. We have been blessed to keep in close contact with many of these men and women and be a part of them becoming successful and being reestablished in society.

We also do counseling, funerals, and weddings while holding an average of 400 services a year. We hold services at the Eastham Prison, Holiday Unit, Polunsky Unit, Walls Unit, Harris County Jail, Colorado County Jail, Star of Hope, Salvation Army Sally's House, Bible studies in Schulenburg and Houston, Texas, as well as revivals and speaking engagements at churches.

We are a faith ministry that trusts Jesus to transform lives by the power of his Word.

• Furnish Bibles and Christian literature to the facilities where we minister

• Add more people to the ITW team in order to increase the amount of ministry possible

• Use the latest technology to get the Word out

• We have been called to be missionaries to America.

• There are millions of people in jails and prisons in this country, 7 million on parole and probation, and millions addicted to drugs, alcohol and pornography.

• We have been called by God to go seek and save the lost, at any cost, time, money or energy, because God says they are worth it. He gave his only begotten Son for the lost. God declared lost souls valuable and so do we.

• Most offenders will leave jail or prison one day. Addicts will leave rehabilitation centers and return to our neighborhoods, to work in stores where we shop. Wouldn't it be nice to know that while they were away they had an encounter with God and had built a foundation of faith? We agree and want to make sure that they have that opportunity.

• Our firm and sincere belief here at In the Word Ministries is that everyone deserves another chance.

•In the Word Ministries is a Bible believing, faith based ministry dedicated to meeting the needs of as many people as possible, mentally, physically and above all spiritually.

• We believe that with God nothing is impossible. No person is too hard, too cold, or too broken for God to put back together. (Matthew 19:26, Mark 10:27)

• We believe that faith comes by hearing the Word of God and that without faith it is impossible to please God. (Romans 10:17, Hebrews 11:6)

• We believe the Holy Spirit is our Teacher and Guide in our walk with God. (John 14:26)

• We believe that Jesus paid the price for sin on the cross and rose from the dead to give us new life. (John 3:16)

•The devil has been defeated and has no authority over our lives, although he seeks whom he may devour. We give no place to him. The Word says: "Resist the devil and he will flee." (James 4:7) 

• We believe words are powerful so we must speak what God says to gain victory in this life. (Proverbs 18:21)

• We are salt and light. (Matthew 5:13-14)

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.  Romans 14:17
